Hotel Metropolitan Saitama-Shintoshin

Floating feeling This hotel is located at the center of complex facility building in front of Saitama-Shintoshin Station. The design transforms its spatial uniqueness into an advantage, expressing a sense of floatation by the composition of lights, curved surfaces, and materials. Every visitor feels relax, basks in the afterglow, and is enclosed by an unusual space. In the 10m tall open ceiling of the lobby/restaurant. Lights are reflected on the curved wall, and the metal art screen -like floating fabric- receives glamorous effects from the lights, creating different sceneries at different times of the day. The object-like curved furniture impressively flatters the space. From the guest rooms windows, guests can see the representative tree of the area, the zelkova. A pattern of the tree decorates the space as a design motif from carpets to room numbers.

Floating feeling さいたま新都心駅前に建つ複合施設ビルの中心に位置するホテル。その空間の個性を強みにかえるデザインとして、光・曲面・素材、それらの構成が浮遊感を表現し、ここを訪れる誰もが安らぎを感じ余韻に浸り、非日常の空間に包み込まれる。ロビー・レストランの10ｍの吹き抜けには、曲線の壁面に光を映し出し、まるで布のように浮遊する金属のアートスクリーンが艶やかに光の演出を受け、朝・昼・夜の時間ごとのシーンを創りだす。その中に佇む曲線の家具はオブジェのように印象的な装いで空間を引立たせる。客室の窓からはこの地を象徴とする『けやきの木々』を感じる。その木々のパターンは、カーペットやルームナンバーにいたるまで客室のデザインモチーフとし空間を彩る。
