Inheriting history, perceiving nature
A multiple dwelling complex built in a lush, historic location facing Aoba Street and Nishikoen, close to the center of Sendai City. In the old days, it was a commercial town that flourished in cotton and kimono trade.The entrance was aimed to inherit the historic culture of Omachi, designed to enjoy the green to the fullest extent.At the approach, the gate displays natural light during the day and continuous light leads people inside in the evening.The textile-inspired wooden grid and the light softly divide the indoors and outdoors in front of the entrance, giving a warm welcome to the inhabitants and guests.In the entrance hall, the symmetrical space has a classy feel, framing the green outside to emphasize the quality of the space. The tranquil place is great for relaxing and feeling the transition of nature each day.
歴史を継承する 自然を享受する
仙台市の中心市街地からほど近い、青葉通りと西公園に面した緑豊かな歴史ある地に建てられた集合住宅。古くは木綿や呉服などで栄えた商業の街であった。歴史ある大町の文化を継承し、豊かな緑を最大限に享受するエントランス空間を目指した。アプローチではゲートが、昼は自然の光を映し、夜は連続する光が人々をウチへ導く。エントランス正面の織物をモチーフにした木格子と光がウチとソトを柔らかく仕切り、住人・ゲストを温かく迎え入れる。エントランスホールでは、格式を感じられるシンメトリックな空間が、外部の緑をフレーミングし特別な空間であることを演出し、自然の移ろいを日々感じられる静かな憩いの場としている。
