Dressing up without demolishing A renovation plan for a hotel restaurant, awaiting a major seismic renovation in two years. In order to minimize the cost, the renovation concept was "dressing up the restaurant without modifying the building".The renovated restaurant was used for various occasions by groups of different size on a daily basis, from dining places to meeting rooms for big and small groups. Therefore, an adaptable place for various uses was desired. Already existing and used before, ready-made movable partitions were used and newly dressed up to create functional, flexible, and high-impact spaces. Similar clothes were put on pillars to form a symbolic presence, resulting in a reduced feeling of confinement and providing a sense of unity in the entire space.

こわさず、まとう 2年後に大規模な耐震改修工事を控えたホテルのレストラン部分の改修計画。そのため今回の改修では費用を抑えるため、『建築は触らずに服を纏わせる』ことをコンセプトとした。改修を行ったレストラン部分は日によって使い方も収容人数も異なり、食事をする場から大人数の会議や少人数での打合せなど、様々な使い方に対応できる場である必要があった。そこでお施主さんが以前から使っていた既製品の可動式パーテーションを利用し、新たな服を着せる事で機能的でインパクトのある可変空間をつくることにした。柱にも同様の服を纏わせシンボリックな存在とすることで、圧迫感の軽減と空間全体の統一感をつくった。
